Willapa Bay House
Located on the Long Beach Peninsula overlooking over Willapa Bay, this seasonal home and studio sits on the edge of tidal wetlands. It was designed to sit lightly on the ground, utilizing simple, durable and economical materials.
Program spaces are organized onto three elevated wood platforms. On the first, a workspace and photography studio serve as the gateway to the site. A small entry foyer and support spaces are located on the second, and on the third, bedrooms and principal living spaces open to the water’s edge and are united by a broad terrace. Simple, overhanging roofs mirror the house’s basic organization and offer protection from the persistent coastal rain.
